Pump is dead, again

I have a 1 HP Hayward Super Pump 700 that is unreliable. Sometimes just buzzes, other times starts in reverse, and occasionally starts normally. The pump is a bit over 5 years old and had a similar problem about 18 months ago. Pump tech at Leslies replaced the capacitors on the pump and it was working again, but cost me about $220. Not sure I want to put more money into this pump.

I'm looking at variable speed pumps to capitalize on the energy savings possible there. I'm currently looking at the CircuPool 1.7 THP and the Pureline Titan 2 HP, along with others. I don't have any automation to integrate with. What should I be considering?

Get a 3HP pump.

Study how the pump controls can be set over a day for times and speeds to run the pump the way you want. There is a wide range of controls to choose from.
