I don't have a time of use plan. My pump runs 24/7.

Do you have a cover? what speed do you run the pump?

I only have a solar cover I use during April, May and September. Currently, I run my pump at 2000 rpm since that's the speed the SWG needs to stay running. At my previous house, I could run at 1200 rpm. I'm looking to replace the current pump with a 3 hp which should allow me to run at lower rpms.

This is just what I do, I’m not saying it is wrong or right, I usually close the cover between 7-9 pm depending on when the last person says they are done. I open between 9-12 am depending on my work schedule. Mostly closer to 11:00. We have a fence and older kids, and I like going out to moving water so we keep the cover open during the day. If we had younger kids or no fence, I would be vigilant about keeping the cover closed when we weren’t in it.

I'm surprised how no one ever seems to mention that they run their pools based on their time-of-use electric plan.

The more money you save by running your pump at a low speed, the less money is left to save by micromanaging the pump schedule.

Where I live, there is no extra charge for peak power. I am thinking about dialing it back to offset demands on the grid. But power seems fairly stable here as well.
