Preventing Black Algae Return After Resurface

Heyo, I'm a long time TFP lurker! I've drunk the Kool-aid, bought the test kid and preached the TFP gospel to all the pool owners I meet. But, alas, the dreaded Black Algae set in last year. Our plaster pool (15Kgal, pic attached) is LOOONG overdue for a redo; it's pitted and pocked and impossible to brush effectively. So we are having it completely resurfaced. They are out there chiseling the old surface off right now.

My question is this: What all should we do to minimize the ability of the algae to come back? We've considered the following items:
  • Do we need to throw out or bleach our pool toys?
  • Should we do anything with the DE filter, pump, etc. before restarting it?
  • What should we do about the light socket?
  • What should we do about the interior of the waterfall (partially enclosed cavity that fills with water when running)?
  • What else are we missing?
Thanks in advance. Ok, I'm going to go review the related pool school notes, now!
