We all know I panic easily …. But this does seem suspicious (attached photos)

Last few days I’ve had slimy gray stuff in the skimmer -around the back of the bowl, today is the first I’ve seen this “broken oil” looking stuff . If the sun hits it right it’s almost prism/rainbow effect
Water is CLEAR and cold
My panic button screams “biofilm”
As during the wwm battle I had a huge blob of that, that moved with the water around the pool surface
Thoughts? The paper towel pic is what comes out if I just lightly skim the water in the skimmer

We opened mid April the pool has not been used at all yet so the sunscreen/lotion may not be applicable (unless it’s last years)

Could be stuff that has blown in from a nearby fire or construction site, farm etc.
the pool is like a giant filter for the environment unfortunately. You may or may not notice similar debris on other outdoor surfaces.
If you have an auto cover (I don’t recall) it may be from the tracks.

IMO it was 2 unrelated things last year. Several with autocovers have the oil / skimmer slick. We've never nailed the cause down.
Deploy a new 3 pack of tennis balls.

Debris - yes (pollen, cotton wood etc)
I will oclt tonight- sailing was so smooth I’d forgotten abt this HAHA
That being said the pool has hardly even been open - just long enough to test and run fountains . Maybe 10 min 3 times per week so far

A pool has to breathe more.
Bottling up the water is not good for it.
Leave the cover open at least an hour two or three times a week.
Turns out I did not pass an oclt.
Started slam . Going as expected other than bubbling/foaming ?
When adding chlorine esp, running fountains, or even just dumping the rest of my sample water back in. Larger amounts of bubbles that hang around for hours .
Same chlorine as last year - Menards “pool shock” 12.5%
Not splashless etc
Some gallons left over from last year and has weakened . Adjusting accordingly as far as strength, but is this causing bubbles somehow?

Shouldn't be. Is it pond scum-y or soap-y ?
Scum-y is a natural part of the process sometimes. Soap-y is usually additives in the bleach (Chlorox types)
CH doesnt apply to you. Its for older fiberglass pools or waterline tiles (grout)
I’d say soapy bubbles . I use a solo cup for sample . Poring the rest in “suds” as well as fountains / bubbler and even pouring in chlorine . After adding a gallon, there were bubbles hours later
