So I feel a little better about letting it do its own thing . Pm suggests 50-90

For you with an autocover it's a lol no. (IMO).

The industry expects you to use pucks which tank the PH with all the CYA(cid). So the industry recs a higher TA.

Stop using or never have used pucks and the equation changes, but they trudge along ignorantly.

I’m freaking out just a tad. I did add the acid earlier. Mixed brushed etc. about an hour later closed the cover (to mow) when I opened back up there is a shiny film all over the water that I have not seen. Is this at all related to acid

Could be sunscreen, body oils or whatnot.
MA isn’t oily so I don’t think it has anything to do with that. The skimmer sock will catch it. & the fc will break it down.

I"ll go with something the Ahhsome expelled from the plumbing.

I keep 2 tennis balls in each skimmer and they soak any oils up. They're amazing.

You should be good. But it's not going to hurt either if you want to use up the rest of the bottle. You can be our Guinea pig.

That's OK. We needed to know and there was only one way to find out. Get a good feel for what they're doing. Next time you'll be entirely capable because it's pretty simple once you get over your own hangups about it.

Things are goin well here.
Pm gives me fc range 3-7 (3 is lava, got it) so is 5 the sweet spot, so to say?

For instance I just vacuumed and tested. My fc is 7.5. Pool will be open but unused today. Full sun high 76.

Just test again this evening and add back to 7 or more like 5?

Your expected daily loss is your guide, and it can vary widely because you have 2 pools. (covered/uncovered). *Then* the point in the season comes into play also.

Have the pool open all week because company is visiting or you're just around to enjoy it? Dose for the recent full sun loss.

Have a busy week and it's covered the whole time? Then you'll lose alot less each day so dose accordingly for that.

The key is that 3 is lava.

Heck. 5 is lava at my house. If I know going to be busy for a spell and need it hands off for a few days, 7 is lava.
