Pre pool opening (white water mold)

Ok after a through brushing and vacuum. I’m seeing spots like these . They almost look “rusty” . But don’t move with a fingernail scratch.
Ones in pic are on first step. There are several others in diff areas.

I’m just realizing we must have heavy amounts minerals in our water . I’m not sure exactly which minerals .

I “canned” jam this week. (For the first time)
Boiling jars in water for 5 min with a wire rack in the bottom of a stainless steel pot (to keep jars off bottom) .
After maybe 6 boiling session and hours of the rack being in the water/ pan I saw these same kind of spots on the bottom of the pan where the rack “legs” were. Vinegar took most of them off. If that is at all helpful to diagnose the pool spots . Also the jars were covered with a powdery white residue after cooling

Thank you . I will try those things.
I tested cya with this round of testing . I was unsure so tested 3 times . I’m saying it’s 30. I’ve been using 60 in pm.

If you were using 60, and it's much lower, you were running the FC hot and it's not responsible.

You fouled up in a way that gave you too much chlorine (y)

No harm was done because of it.

If you thought CYA was 30, and it was really 60, your FC would have been too low and that may have given you algae.

Needless to say, I’m terrified of adding too much stabilizer. However pool math suggests it, so I will. The package I have has never been opened but is over a year old, maybe more .

Still good?
Do I wait until slam is complete or add now.
After adding wait what a day to re test ?

Wish I would never have mentioned those crickets chirping . 🤣
And a reminder I appreciate you 🙏🏻

Wait. Each 10 CYA raises your SLAM FC by 4 ppm. Slamming at higher cya sucks. Like even more. :ROFLMAO:
Ikr! I’ve been using 60 and if I’m indeed closer to 30 smh 🤦‍♀️
I’m going to have my hub do the test and make sure I’m not crazy or blind. It was closer to the 30,
but did I just read I’m supposed to round up?
If so
use 40 in pm for the remainder of my slam instead of 60?
Hope my gel coat isn’t suffering from my mistake
Just dangit!!

My eyes say 30 cya
His say less than but closer to 40
So i will roll with 40 unless instructed otherwise
*He does have to wear readers lol

Oclt fc -2 (I did base it on 40 cya not 60 so I raised to fc16 not 24, this am it was 14) also took sample from skimmer which I don’t normally do but was short on time , if that makes any diff
5:30 am Added per pm back to 16 (also into skimmer)
1:30 pm fc 12 cover has been on all day
Cc 0.5 (that has not changed ever, since original slam about 5 weeks ago)

Little icing on the slam cake
Found another mole in the skimmer, just wth ?!
There is 6+feet of concrete around this pool at the smallest area, and another 25 ft of river rock . 30 ft from dirt and finds his way into my pool 😡 🤬
Im finished whining

Probably no difference.

They run across the patio and fall in and drown. I've found a great many in the skimmer myself.

Double down on the algae treasure hunt. Get the hubs involved in case something is staring you in the face that you're missing. Simmer plates, the foam on the back of the weir door, stair trim, etc.

Bite your tongue and scrub the 46 things he sees that you already got for the 1 you didn't. It's for the greater good. 😁

Normally we skip the lights but on a repeat SLAM we need to address them. This was a buddy's niche recently when he pulled the light out.

Can you link me something on light removal? or I can try to YouTube it.

Of course I’ve never done that, scared to try . I had the pool company remove and check when we opened. He said there was none (algae) … take that for what it’s worth . He did leave me a “special tool” I will need to remove them .
I only have
2 lights
2 returns
1 skimmer
2 somethings in the deep end (I think main drains, tho they are on the wall not the bottom)
1 “bubbler” return
2 “fountains” that I have forgotten to run 15 min each day , well because I forgot about them . We hate them
No “stairs” like attached ladder etc
It’s basically a big bathtub with two lights
I’ll get him on the weir door today. I have been finger checking it . Seemed fine. I’ll update after removal and inspection

Sigh the fountains 🤦‍♀️

He did leave me a “special tool” I will need to remove them .
That's promising as they probably aren't the ones that hold 3 gallons of old water. Got pics of the lights ?

If they're nichless, then there's no need to remove.

Ok THIS I like. Well. I hate. Because it bit you. But at least it's a legit possibility as to how you got yucked again in a week.

Abort mission. Nothing to see here. Woohoo.

It's looking like the fountains got you. How are they plumbed ? From the regular suction/skimmer or do they have a dedicated feed ?
