I want to purchase a pool pre-filter that will connect to my garden hose for topping off the pool water during the summer. We are on well water, which is quite hard with a lot of iron (rust color). I googled the topic and found a product called Pleatco Pure Start, but the feedback was not convincingly positive. Any suggestions from members who have found a good solution?

Blake’s product is a decent and simple option that will help, but it would be best to know what level of iron you're dealing with.

Filters are only partly effective at mechanically removing iron...and better at lower microns. Dissolved iron in solution however is not highly filterable. The process is improved on well water by going through a reducing filter in something like a Pentax 10” big blue housing using a 25 to 1 micron reducing filter.

I’ve gotta run at the moment but if you post your well iron ppm for me I’ll give you additional reccs, links, suggestions, etc.
