I opened my pool the first week of May. Everything was good, and then my area experienced some historic rains with localized flooding in nearby towns. We didn’t flood, but our ground water was the highest I’ve ever seen. At one point the water in my sump tube was at the level of my pool with the pump doing all it could. My auto cover vault filled with ground water from the drains within it.

Everything was fine for about two days after and then I opened the cover one morning and my pool smelled like the YMCA pool and my CCs were 2.5. I immediately started SLAM. Failed the OCLT test the first day. After four days, I passed the OCLT and have zero chloramines. The water was clear the whole time.

Is there anything else I should I should look for or worry about? Is it possible the groundwater contaminated my pool with biologics or was it just possible that it was algae? Does the slam generally protect from post flood contamination?

Chlorine is a recognized sanitizer and will eliminate anything harmful.

Pool water is not potable water suitable for drinking.
