Possible Mustard algae - Need advice

Hello All,

It seems, what I've been dismissing till now as dust and spring-summer tree debris, may be mustard algae.

I'll be doing OCTL tonight to ascertain the FC loss. I've already started the SLAM process by pouring in 1 gallon of 10% Cl while adjusting pH, brushing the pool sides and keeping the pump running.

I'm writing to get some help on the following two points:
1) I've a variable speed pump. While running the pump for 24/7, what min PSI is recommended?
I looked at the link for filter maintenance Maintenance and Cleaning of Pool Filters - Trouble Free Pool . It mentions a relative value, but I couldn't find any absolute recommended PSI range.
2) While the pump is running for SLAM, does it matter how the water inflow to the filter is distributed between skimmer and suction cleaner ?

I'll keep posting updates on what I find with my overnight testing.

Thanks!

For your questions:
1 - PSI varies by pool. You need to know your clean pressure first so that you know when it increases by 25% for cleaning. You can run an a relatively low rpm, just ensure water is always flowing.
2 - As long as water is constantly slowly through all plumbing, it's fine.

Make sure for the SLAM Process itself you have an accurate CYA test so that you can then ensure you have the proper FC SLAM/Shock level as noted on the FC/CYA Levels page. Good luck!
