Looking at a possible first build and was curious if anything looks off or needs changing. May still manipulate the shape to fit the backyard in the best way and will add more pictures as I get further. Picture shows square but have modified already to be rectangle. He does include standard on his pools the A&A cleaning/circ system (which I realize a lot of folks don't like) but said in his mind its for circulation of the pool and heating and not necessarily the cleaning.

I am still in the planning stages of mine, but you could save a little money if the main purpose of the A&A cleaning (I am guessing you are meaning In-floor cleaning) is for circulation and heating of the pool. I was talked out of the in-floor by people here and reading threads. I instead am going with a couple flush floor returns. Which will do exactly what I wanted... Heating and circulation. I was able to do this and buy one of the best robots out there, and still save a little bit of money.

Welcome! Nice tips above by @CliffL, in addition, I would add:
- Drop the Nature 2 (minerals) - no bueno.
- If you take Cliff's tips, drop that Polaris and booster pump as those seem to be fading out as yesterday's technology. Plus, much more work on your system. Robots are the hottest trends now if you are interested.
- Chlorination? Other than the Nature 2 (don't want), there's no mention of how the pool will be chlorinated (i.e. salt water generator or manually). Since you are getting a VSP, I would recommend an SWG so that it can all be programmed for efficiency and ease. Get one 2X the recommended size. If not installed, you'll be chlorinating old-school (like me) via adding chlorine (aka regular bleach) each day. Not the worse thing for us jug-dumpers on a budget, but for some it's a hassle. Just wanted you to know.

Welcome to the TFP club. :swim:

Appreciate the responses.

I know there’s is no saltwater generator so I assume manual if I don’t do nature 2. Will have to read up on the negatives of tabs. My sister in law has them and loves the simplicity.

One thing I was unsure was cartridge filter, sand would seem the simpler and lower maintenance option. Would you all still suggest cartridge.

The tablets add extra stuff with the chlorine. Most add extra CYA aka stabilizer. While you do need the CYA over time you will get too much of it in the water. The more CYA you have the more FC you need so................here is a chart to show you their relationship:
Trouble Free Pool

Yeah they are easy but over time you will need to replace some of the water to remove the "extra" CYA.
