I have a 7500 gallon pool with Jandy Caretaker inground rotating heads and a water feature. I seem to have always struggled with enough pressure to the Jandy as it does not seem all of the heads rotate. A couple weeks ago I noticed the heads were not popping up at all (there was a little flow coming out of them from the top) and the water feature was running at a trickle. I have cleaned the Jandy filter, the filters in the canister, the clean out and the impeller.

I have good pressure on the filter 25 psi, but the pressure at the Jandy is about 2 and does not seem to cycle. Not sure where to start. Any ideas? I appreciate any insight from the group.

Welcome to TFP.

What model filter do you have?

25 PSI at the filter is not good and indicates that the filter needs cleaning. Lower filter pressure is better, as it lets more water flow through to the water valve.

Clean your filter and see what your clean filter PSI is and what the Caretaker PSI is.

Looks like you have a Pentair CCP420 cartridge filter.
Remove the catridges and reassemble with the cartridges removed.
See if the flow is back to normal. If so, your cartridges are either really dirty or plugged with debris.

In the water distribution valve - look into the inlet pipe in the union above the valve. If there is a screen in there, remove it and clean it. Be sure no debris is backed up in that pipe.

Fix your location in the side panel below your username.

I ran it without the filters and I have 20 psi at the filter and 10 at the Jandy. Heads are popping up, but not completely. Still feels like there is something else. I thought I had cleaned the filters recently, but apparently not a good job of it.

Thank you for the insight.

Take the water valve apart and check for debris.
Also check the feed pipe abofe the union at the water valve.
Clean the screen there if there is one.

The filter pressure seems high, even with the cartridges removed.

OK. I am truly appreciative for the help. I checked the water valve for debris, flushed the pipes on all directions and nothing came out. I have removed the filter (pictured) from the top of the intake and reassembled. Now I have 15-16 psi at the filter and 15+ at the Jandy. All of the heads are popping up normally and they even look to be rotating as they should. Is the filter I am showing too fine for the filter?

Again, thank you. I will be completing my profile and look forward to interacting with everyone here.

Is that from the top of the air relief tube in the filter?
If so, it is the air relief filter and is supposed to be that fine mesh. It needs to be cleaned each time you clean the filter.

If you are getting a lot of debris into the filter, consider adding a hair net to the inside of the skimmer basket. This will prevent a lot of stuff from getting into the filter.
Look on Amazon for polypropylene hair nets. You can usually find a pack of 100 for around $10.

Yes. It is the air relief tube screen. Looks like the previous owner of the home must have broken the original air relief tube so he created one from pvc that tapers at the top. I found the correct tube on Amazon, with the correct screen and will be installing that shortly. Would not have realized the setup was incorrect without going through this effort and relying on your expertise

Thank you b
