Above ground 15x30 pool. Hayward pump and sand filter.

There is very poor water flow coming out of the return. The flow is the same on all filter settings (filter, recirculate, backwash, etc.) I have tried every fix suggested by Google but nothing has worked.

Backstory: I had an algae issue so I used Green to Blue to clear it up. When I attempted to vacuum to waste, I could not get any suction going. I had a pool company look at it and they suggested replacing the pump and filter. My pump and filter are less than a year old. Instead, I changed the pool hose connecting the skimmer and pump and I changed the sand in the filter. I was then able to vacuum to waste successfully.

After vacuuming, I tried to filter the pool but I can't get the water to flow through the pump/filter system. The return water pressure is very low. The water flow to the pump is very low. I have primed the pump, water level is good, baskets are clean, nothing around the impeller. I tried to back wash and rinse. The flow of water out of the back wash hose is very slow. I'm at a loss!

Welcome to TFP! Are oyu ready for anotther hot day here in SA? Well, it sounds like you still have an algae issue and the best way to combat that is by following the TFP SLAM Process. Liquid chlorine is the best way to fight algae and perform the SLAM Process, but you also must have a good test kit at home to maintain the proper levels. Do you have a TF-100/Pro-Series test kit or Taylor K-2006C? If not, that needs to be step #1. In this heat the water will only get worse and water flow will be horrible as the organics are overloading your filter.

Be sure to bookmark our Pool Care Basics page, and start reviewing the SLAM Process page as well. Stock up on liquid chlorine. Don't add any other junk from the local pool store or off the shelves that "claim" to solve your problem because they won't. With the roper test kit, we can coach you through this and you'll have a much better swim season.
