Hello Folks,
I have a steel & vinyl liner with a 63,000 liter capacity inground pool, using a sand filter with Chlorine and have been using this pool for 25 years now. This year we had a hole in the winter cover and opened to a green pool. I did the standard opening but after 6 weeks and 3.25 jugs (750 Gm. each)of stabilizer and over 80 liters of FC, I still cannot get a CYA reading higher than 5 PPM. I am now working on applying a salt formulated stabilizer to see if it might help. The pool store owner and my son (a Bio-Chemist) are baffled as to why the CYA is not staying in the pool. Does anyone have any insights? The pool has full sun exposure from dawn to 5:00 PM and is surrounded by mature trees (Buckthorn and Chinese Elms) We did have a very warm start to the season with almost every grass, tree and flower releasing pollens in less than 3 weeks. I used skimmer basket socks and literally peeled the pollen off twice a day for the last few weeks. Any help would be appreciated!
