In 15 years of owning and maintaining a pool this might be my worst nightmare.....

Opened the pool last week. Weather went south so we didn't bother doing anything except draining the pool a bit and testing all equipment was working. (New photo · Tuesday, May 20 ð¸)

Come back 1 week later to start doing chemistry etc... and discovered (New photo · Tuesday, May 27 ð¸)

We lost a lot of water. Nothing was running as far as I could tell , nothing was left in a position to actively drain.

Some observations and hopefully insights to get some guidance here as I've never experienced anything like this before

A leak I suspect ? Since the pool was full before opening , plumbing ? as all the plugs were removed during opening .

From the level, which appears to have stabilized I see the following at the returns ( New photo · Tuesday, May 27 ð¸ , New photo · Tuesday, May 27 ð¸ )

So at first guess , the return with the level stabilized may have failed ?

I have plugged suspect returns and adding 1 hour water to the pool.

Do I just unplug wait a day until I find the culprit ? Will this work when returns are interconnected ?

I'm hoping you kind folks have some mercy on me and guide me into the right diagnostic steps to move forward so as not to impoverish me and get our pool going for the season.

Thanks in advance !!
