Pool vs Spa Aquapure Setting

I just moved into a house with Jandy system. I have a spa/pool combo, about 16000 gallons, the higher spa waterfalls about 2 feet into the pool. I see the Aquapure settings as Pool-0% and Spa-40%. Does this sound right? Why not 40% for both?

Welcome to the forum!

That does sound odd on the SWCG settings. Do you have any of the paperwork for the equipment. Other forum members with that type of equipment will join in soon.

Do you have testing results from your own test kit?

Can you fill our your signature. See Pool School - Getting Started. Understanding your pool type, equipment, etc helps us help you.

Take care.

Great that your chlorine is ideal. How do you test for that? Do you follow the [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA]?

Which SWCG do you have? PLC700 or PLC1400?

I skimmed the operations manual and cannot easily find the issue you are having. We will have some others join in.

Take care.

Cal,

Welcome to TFP.. A great resource for all your pool questions.. :shark:

The idea behind the two different cell outputs between the Pool mode and Spa mode, is that you do not want to be sitting in a small volume of water and have a large amount of chlorine coming in.

Normally the spa output should be set to about 1/10th of the pool output..

I suspect that our "ideal" chemical levels are much different than yours... :p Do yourself a favor and look though our Pool School... Pool School - Pool School

Thanks for posting,

Jim R.

I have a similar set-up, with an Aquapure 1400 and a spa that spills over into the pool. I was running it at 5% Spa and roughly 20% Pool before it got too cold for chlorine production. With the spillover option, you can do a lot of things to keep your chlorine dispersed.

If it were my pool, I'd want to answer these questions to try to figure this out.

1) Confirm that my Jandy actuators are in the correct positions that correspond to "Spa Mode" and "Pool Mode". I would want to eliminate the chance that the previous owner had it set up this way to mask a valve problem.
2) What is the FC level in the spa and the FC level in the pool? They may be different, and that may help explain the flow of chlorinated water to the other body of water.
3) Check all the Scheduled Programs to find out how many hrs/day and days/wk that it runs in "Spa Mode", "Pool Mode", and "Spillover" mode. That profile, along with info from #2 above, should help explain the chlorine level.
