We recently bought a house with a 14yo pool. There are 2 steps that are cracked: one with overlap and the other with a hole. It is obvious we will need some kind of backfill to reinforce the affected steps because they tilt some and feel spongy. Replacement cost and work is extensive. However, we received one quote and it was 5K. I can replace them for less. The damage is not outrageous! Does anyone know of a specialist in central PA or who will travel here?

I take it you have a liner pool with fiberglass steps(?) Assuming this is the case, Google fiberglass repair (boat, etc) in your area and call around. Pictures of the steps, cracks, hole will help. Please add your pool info to your signature.
