Hi all!
As highlighted, pool start up after 1.5yrs of house renovations. I used 68% Cal Hypo (no CYA added) every 2 weeks to maintain due to dirt and stuff from the backyard. We finally got to the point where the project was done. To open, I decided to SLAM. Ran it for 2 days. The numbers, using the old test kit came out fairly high.
FC: 30
CYA: 100
TA: 90
PH: 9
CH: 1500. ( did it 2x, I think I need to retest with new regent)
Are the following steps right? All are based on my fav app, ie Pool Math!
12k gallon pool - 79 degrees (and climbing to 90!)
1) PH - 90oz of 14.5% MA to reduce PH to about 7.2
2) TA - At 7.2 Aeroate to get to about 70
3) Let FC drop down to 7
4) I'll eventually want to do the Vitamin C treatments as there is a little bit of staining as out area is about 40% ground water.
For CH and CYA, it recommended about 40% pool drain and refill. What happens if I don't? Get Chlorine lock due to CYA? At 1500 CH, scaling? Thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance!
