pool replastering water flow marks

PB called back. He will come over tomorrow to check. He says its calcium and it normal to have it the first few months.

No, it's not. Glad he's checked in, at least. I hope it all goes well for you tomorrow.

PB = Peanut Butter. Not that good for you. There's usually a lot of bread involved. Sometimes chunky or nutty.

Update: @onBalance was here in CA on vacation. He got in touch with me and offered to check this out. Pouring a tiny amount of muriatic acid and wiping it took off the white patch. He suggested to use 100 grit wet dry sandpaper and scrub gently to take off the marks. I'll try this when the swimming season starts.

Thanks @onBalance and the TFP forum for all the support!

As it turns out, the whitish discoloration marks in this pool is NOT related to plastering defects as mentioned in my write-up "White Spotting in Colored Pools." Instead, the white areas and marks were caused by "plaster dust" hardening and sticking to areas that did not receive adequate brushing during the first two weeks. It is somewhat easy to remove by sanding with sandpaper.

It does appear that a little too much calcium chloride was added to the plaster mix which increased the amount of plaster dust forming and plus a little extra mottling. But it isn't very noticeable and won't affect the life-span of the plaster..

There was a slight discolored water streak caused by the spa being filled with water too soon and entering the main pool. But that it also a minor discoloration. It was nice visiting with Prasad.

That's the coolest thing, @onBalance.

@prasadkm0204, glad to hear you've figured out how to resolve things. Personally, I like the way plaster/pebble mottles. It looks more organic and natural to me. Having spent many years diving the world's oceans, that's my standard for colors and textures in a pool. Mother Nature likes mottling in earth and sand and stone and water. She usually gets what she wants...
