Pool Pump Pressure Decreases

I am very new to pool maintenance. so far here is what I did...

Connected the Pump with my above ground pool (I am using Cartridge filter). It works fine with nice pressure. and Then I checked it after few hours and there was pretty much no pressure, then I restarted the PUMP and pressure was normal again. I took out the FILTER cleaned it and placed it back in...but every few hours PUMP keeps on losing pressure & I have to restart pump, why is that?

Sorry, you did mention cartridge in your first post.. my apologies for asking you to repeat yourself.

I am stumped, usually the flow slows when the filter needs to be cleaned, assuming that you are not cleaning the cartridge every time and just turning the pump off and then back on and the flow is immediately returning then it sounds to me like some how you are losing the prime to the pump. You would lose prime due to an air leak entering the plumbing some how.

I assume your water level is not going down or you would notice that or you would see water in the lawn.

Going to need a more seasoned vet as I just passed my pay grade on this one. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

It sounds like your return water flow diminishes a short period of time after cleaning the filter. This doesn't mean the pump pressure is low. It means the filter is probably clogging up with algae, etc. This points to a chemistry issue, not a pump or filter issue.

Does the filter have a working pressure gauge? What is it reading?
How does your water look?
How are you testing your water?
What testkit are you using?
Can you provide current test results?
