I've taken lid off one hundred times. O-ring gasket is good. Pentair type pot, has the clear dome, black locking ring. Lose pressure when shut pump off, when I turn it on its bubbling there, leaking. I've felt for sharp edges, etc.. Cant find a thing that seems to be causing leaks. Any help appreciated.

How about using a bit of pool lube (a silicone or teflon type specifically for pool use) on the gasket to see if that helps?

Have you ever had the pump running but not able to move any water? It will get hot enough to warp the pump lid or the pump body.. Then you can never seal it again..

Jim: just wanted to post a follow up. I looked at that clear lid every way possible, put it on a level and looked for warpage, cracks, etc, found nothing. New one arrived today, and leak is gone. Thanks! I suspect the clear lid is 20 yrs old, and was a bit warped.
