So I'm new to this forum but have been grateful for those who contribute as it's been very helpful to us as we just signed a contract this past weekend on our first pool. I have a question about decking. We are in the Orlando area and pavers are a big thing along with travertine. I'm actually not a fan of travertine because we are actually looking for a more contemporary look. It will be a rectangular 17x32 pool with a 10x10 tanning ledge and a 6 1/2x 6 1/2 spa. So very geometric. I love the look, don't get me wrong, of travertine but just not for the style of pool we are doing. Our house is white stucco with black accents. The artistic pavers I'm told by our PB are very expensive...even more than the travertine so I'm having to pass on the white ones with shell pieces in them. Would it look awful to use the big 16x16 white pavers with maybe a slate color brick paver along the edge of the pool? Any other suggestions? We have a decent amount of pool decking and really the only difference between the white paver and the artistic one seems to be the shimmer of shells. Any ideas or opinions welcome! Thank you!

Tremron has their porcelain big blocks and also the blue stone in glacier would be very sleek looking.

Check out tremrons website and go to the gallery and check out what they can do. You can also do their pre fab coping that comes in longer pieces for a smoother, more linear look. I think the grey would look sharp esp with the house colors.

I would caution against darker colors as they can get very hot. If you get a lot of sun, consider going for a light color. Maybe a good quality limestone or sandstone. A good quality, light colored limestone or sandstone is reasonably cool, non-slip, has good texture and good durability.

I would also caution against the shells as they can be sharp or rough on the feet.

wow! thank you for those ideas. My only question is that are these options any less cheaper than the pricey artistic shell pavers? I will definitely be sharing these with our pool builder. Those tremron pictures are great and yes, that tumbled marble is stunning but that also has to be pricier than travertine?

oh, and James W, yes agree. We aren't too interested in dark pavers unless mixed with a larger proportion of white. Funny you posted that link as I had just seen that last week too trying to get ideas. Thank you so much!

The tremron pavers are cheaper than travertine. Tremron offers travertine as well. There are even MORE colors than shown on the website but they are special order. Chat with your PB but also see if there are suppliers near you so you can go see them in person. We almost went with Blue stone but it doesn't come in a 1" remodel paver which is a no go for us as we are putting pavers over an existinf concrete patio.

Our PB offered Tremron and Belgard pavers. I think Tremron's pavers may be a better quality but we ultimately went with Belgard in the color Aragon and style Mega-Cambridge as they carried the lightest colored paver. The large paver slabs by Tremron are pretty pricey (I think if you google Tremron price sheet it has them on there) but very modern.

We're doing pavers similar to this and we're going for a contemporary look. I agree travertine is more traditional looking. Everyone told us it was more modern looking but I don't agree and its expensive. What I really wanted was bluestone but nobody around us offered it and it'e expensive.

This is a similar finished look: Sheer Enjoyment

12x18 rectangle, but they also have 16x16. They're from flagstonepavers.com white/pewter

The photo from Canada is just what the finished look would be like. Its the closest picture i have been able to find for the pavers we chose after scouring the internet. Flagstone pavers doesn't have any pictures of the oversized rectangular pavers in white/pewter on a patio. But they offer 12x16 white/pewter. We're doing it in a running bond. I attached the color we chose. It's just not showing the entire finished look.

Thank you! We actually are going with that exact pewter/white pavers from flagstone. It's the only paver company our pool builder uses! I thought he said the 12x12 was the largest size though so we are using just that size. Would love to see photos of yours when complete! We are a couple weeks out from the start of our build. Now I'm just nervous because just realized our accent tile clashes with water color....lol.

We went with Tremron Estate pavers, colors are coral, charcoal and south beach. These also come in 1 inch as we covered a concrete patio to blend in. Thes are not too hot but we have a pool cage.

Hope this helps

Hello-
We are also considering the flagstone white pewter in 12x12 or the rectangles that you did. They said the 16X16 weren't available yet in that color. Are you able to post pics to the forum or email them to me of your finished product? Without any pics online with this color it makes it difficult to decide.

Thanks!
