It’s been a couple of years since we’ve had the pool up. To refresh my skills I’ve done a bit of reading. Here is where I am at why can’t I get a CYA Reading? Does something seem off with readings?
Using Taylor 2006C Kit
Filled pool 6000gal from irrigation system filtered canal water, filtered clean enough I can use drip system.
Cleaned filled and backwashed both sand filters
Circulated system for 4 hours
Vacuumed and cleaned pool
Tested pH was 7.8 brought down to 7.2 with muriatic acid
FC 0
CYA 0
CC 0

Added 2lbs of CY @ 56.44%
Circulated for 1 hour
FC 25
CYA 0 or I can’t figure out how to get a proper reading
CC 0

Water does not naturally have CYA.
Check the "... 2lbs of CY @ 56.44%" - that sounds more like its CalHypo based on the percentage.
CYA - stabilizer - usually has a percentage list in the 98%-100% range.

Post pictures of the label on the product you added.

That sure does sound like cal hypo. Especially based on your subsequent fc results. Cal hypo does not contain cya.

Also- it takes cya 24 hours to register on the test if using the sock method (recommended)
Up to a week if added through the skimmer (not recommended)

Yup I added cal hypo

So what’s my remedy step here to get the CYA needed?

Fingers crossed it’s not drain and start over 😬

For chlorine treatment I use liquid chlorine 10%

To think I was doing the SLAM correctly. Live and learn that’s why we’re here.

Is it ok to add the stabilizer in the sock directly in the skimmer basket or does it have to be carrot on a stick method?

Thanks for everyone’s help. No wonder in years past I would the cal hypo and CYA didn’t move. Slowly getting better.
