Pool opening 2024

Good evening all. Hope u r all well. Just added chemicals and brushed and vacuumed. All looks good. Thanks again to my expert helpers.😊👍 I am keeping my fc at 9. Adding as u can see mucho bleacho. But dont not so bad. Only about 3 weeks or so left to full pool season. Had pool opened since beginning of June before fathers day So quite a good stretch of at least 3 months. And always had it under control. I will buy a few more gallons in a week or so to get ready for slam purpose when closing time. I will ask u guys them how much i should put in to have pool good until next years opening. So u will not get rid of me so quickly. Ha ha 😎😊☺️😃image.jpg

Remeber the later you wait to close, the better chances you have in the spring. Once September hits, our daily demand falls off a cliff pretty quick and your daily dose will last days, then a week or more.

The same goes in the spring. It doesn't take much to maintain when you open it as it's warming up, instead of after its warmed up.

You don't need to be using it. When it's cooler, the UV demand plummets and it's much less work/expense. A couple of weeks on both ends makes a huge difference.

It's the an ounce of prevention whoops a pound of cure thing. :)

And GOOD news !!! Installing a heater is 2025 Monte's problem. That guys a SUCKER. 2024 Monte got through the season without it just fine. :ROFLMAO:

Hey now. Ha ha lol. I see what u mean. But there were a lot of times that i truly wished the water was warmer for all not just me. And as i believe Paul had mentioned to get a little larger unit and only run it whrj i need to earlier in the dayto get it warm and then turn it off. I did not do that with my first one. Now u guys taught me this new way of using it. And besides i might retire next year so why not enjoy it like i want to. My wife and i will give it some thought?🥸

Hey people. It has been raining many cats and dogs. Is it safe to put filter on if water is almost to top of skimmer opening. I did a backwash early yesterday morning but it has rained so much again since. What do u people recommend.

You can backwash down to an acceptable level and kill two birds with one stone. Pay attention as it gets close because it's REAL easy to get sidetracked and drain too much, leaving the pump sucking air.

I have next to nothing that needs skimming so I drained down to just below the top of the skimmer. We have several nights coming in the 50s and evaporation will be back. If I reset it to normal yesterday, I'd be adding water on Friday. :ROFLMAO:

I used sump pump as u originally recommended. Thank u. All id ok. But now j have some questions about closing. I saw these items on a PoolSupplies catalog. What do u think of each item?

The 'winter seal' is seran/cling wrap. Depending on the length of the roll you posted, I might buy the 2 pack of cling wrap at Costco and run circles around the pool until I puked. :ROFLMAO: Or I'd buy 2 of the one you posted for more layers. It works well.

The clips work well and are a great price. It's probably not worth shopping around for other clips that aren't for pools but happen to work just the same.

The cover for the solar cover is a properly sized tarp. You can use an actual tarp and roll up the excess, or get the fancy one.

How about using the blue tarps u can purchase at hardware stores. Would that be ok?

About the winter seal. Can i try using just one and see if it works for my first time especially since it is big enoutgh for my 15 x 24 pool. Is it something easily put on by my pool person BEFORE the regular winter cover?
