Use whatever you think will help you, but your issue is you have not been using enough chlorine. When you shock the pool with chlorine, you must bring it up to the full strength suggested in the FC/CYA charts and then HOLD IT THERE by continual adding until your pool is clear.
The picture indicates you have playing patty cake with the algae rather than hitting it with a chlorine sledgehammer.
Duraleigh pegged it. FC is nowhere near shock level for that CYA. You need to kill algae faster than it can reproduce. Soon as FC dips below shock, you're not, and all the chemicals you've put in so far have been for nothing.
Green to Clean is designed to be used when your CYA level is very high. There isn't much point in using when CYA is only 40, as it will just cost extra and runs some risks of creating additional complications.
the reason my chlorine reading is lower than shock level is green to clean needs you to start at 2.5 ppm
I have been around 19-15 for over a week if that is not sledgehammer enuff sorry but dang walmart has cut me off
OK guys after 5 hours in complete sun and hotter than all get out I have only lost 1 ppm, so looking at my last pics that I took with a camera, do you all think I should get my shock level back up and continue with this process or use the green to clean, please I do value all your opinions, more so than the pool store.
