Pool Math with Borates

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but when I am tracking Borates, the amount of acid it's recommending me to add doesn't seem right.

For my 13k volume pool with pH of 7.8 and target of 7.2 and TA of 90 it told me to give about 30 oz or 31% muriatic acid.

Because I am interested in using borates in the future, I checked off borate tracking in the settings and set my borates to 30. It tells me I now only need to add 4oz of muriatic acid. Shouldn't I need MORE acid?

Can you verify you are running the newest version of PoolMath?? It should be version 507 (507012) found in the “About TFP” section.

There was a bug in an older version that has been patched that messed with pH some when borates were entered.

I have version 502 but I also don't see an update in the Android store

If you're interested in borates, use granular boric acid since it's much easier to add.

Let me check with Jon as I’m unsure how delayed updates work on Android. We’ve updated the App to fix a handful of issues however we’re not yet doing the forced rollout at this time. I’m wondering if because we’ve got things “paused” if maybe the update isn’t getting shown to you. Let me check with him and I’ll get back why it’s not showing for you.
