Pool Light Removal at Closing

We had a crack in the light housing this summer that caused a leak. That has now been fixed but I'm nervous to remove the light for winter. I feel like the more I mess with it the more likely the fix itself will be damaged. The light is in the deep end of the pool and will be more than a foot below the waterline once I pump it down to close it. Is there any issue with leaving it in for the winter?

I have never removed lights during winterization in 30 years of pool ownership.
