Pool install just finished...

My pool is finally done. I went with the salt water generator but already screws around the Hayward pool light are rusting. Very upset that rusting has already begun and water hasn't even been in the pool long. So now my new light looks old with rust stains. Are there different screws I can buy because obviously the ones on there are junk and already need replaced.

Yikes! Sounds like they didn't use proper screws.

Mine have been in the pool since early 2004 without any rusting issues (yes, I've used a SWCG from day 1).

Have you had your water tested for metals? Way too many people using salt water generators with no problem, your case is not the norm. You should post your test numbers, including salt content.

The screws are definitely the wrong type. They should be 304 or 316 stainless steel at a minimum. No rusting ever. Speak to the installer and they should replace them.

Stainless steel does not rust. You can have oxidation from the stray electrical current associated with the SWG. Have a sacrificial anode installed and the should help. Probably why you are seeing the oxidation around light screws could be from a bond wire on the light niche.
