Pool Heater Evaporation

Hi All;

Probably a silly question but.... We've been running the pool heater quite a bit lately and have noticed a consistent drop in pool level. Not sure if we have a leak or if the heater would cause enough evaporation to bring the level down over a few days. We'll do the bucket test to test for a leak too.

May have answered my own ? by just searching some earlier posts. Looks like, indeed, warmish days and cool nights along with the heater can cause pool level drops of 1/2" or more a day even with a solar cover. Just hoping we don't have a leak in our old pool.

Yep, I am in Georgia and if I heat my pool to 90 I know I will lose water for the next few days until the water temp goes back to normal.

Are you using a solar cover ? It’s a must when the air temps drop. My pool created so much steam the yard looked like a dense fog horror movie. It was funny until we got the first 2 month electric bill and then it was worse than any horror movie I’d even seen.

That steam was my pool water and hard earned money floating away 7 billion molecules at a time.
