I live near Phoenix . Moved from Illinois. Putting in a new pool and planning on using a pool builder as I am too busy and not knowledgeable enough to be my own general contractor/owner builder. Wondering if I will regret not putting in a pool heater/chiller in my new pool. Sadly it isn’t in the budget right now to add during construction. Is it difficult to add the heater/chiller later down the road? Note that my pool will be small 75’ linear permitter and at most 5.5 feet deep. I do get pretty full sun I my backyard and can’t afford a cover for pool either .

Any feedback from others in hot places like Phoenix appreciated.

Since you do not have a spa, why not just make sure your equipment pad is large enough to add a heater/chiller and the plumbers/electricians have that in mind when they install the equipment.

I'll defer to the locals, but my 2 cents is to skip the heater since you do not have a spa. The chiller could come in handy especially since your pool looks a bit small and you said it is in full sun.
If you pool gets too hot for your liking, I would try a cheaper solution like these before shelling out the $ for a chiller. I put these on mine last year and they would knock 2-3 degrees off the pool in the heat of the summer.
