I noticed a couple of discrepancies in “Pool Filter Comparisons” in the Pool School section:
a) It states that bump DE filters require teardown and cleanup if bumping itself doesn’t keep the PSI down. Elsewhere, the implication is that if bumping isn’t successful, backwashing is the next step (which is what I’ve heard and practice). Teardowns are rarely required more than once a year/season.
b) It states that after backwashing a DE filter (of either bump or backwash variety, it should be reiterated), it should be recharged with 50% of the recommended DE. Elsewhere, the figure is 80%.
