Starting by saying, I am very blessed at my concerns are on how to address this issue given the impact further north.

We got about a 6-7’ surge, and the entire yard flooded, with a few feet of water throughout.

The pool is filled with brown saltwater. River already had a high E. coli level due to a broken wastewater plant, so this is very nasty water.

I killed the power to my pool equipment, and plan to rinse it all off and let it dry before attempting to restart

My question is regarding the pool. Am I better off to drain and refill? And if so, how long do I need to wait given that the ground is completely saturated?

Or I attempt to SLAM and filter what’s in place?

Appreciate the advice. Thanks. IMG_4622.jpeg

You’ll need to wait until the water table recedes - no real accurate timeline for that.
Until then you can throw a submersible pump in to help you mix in liquid chlorine to keep things from getting worse.
If it makes you feel any better chlorine does a great job at killing ecoli if you don’t want to risk your shell by fully draining and just cleaning it up with a no drain water exchange & the SLAM Process
instead once your equipment dries out.
Here’s a chart of kill rate times.
