Pool Design Help - Treasure Coast, FL

Things have been been moving along well and even the weather has cooperated. Nothing of interest to pass along other than how expensive landscaping quotes are...$600 per 12' Italian Cypress planted, yikes.

Thinking about polywood with sunbrella cushions for pool deck furniture. Also debating synthetic wicker or aluminum frame with sling material. Anyone have any thoughts on these options? Look, comfort and low maintenance would all be important.

Polywood%20Colors_zpschextqv1.jpg

I have both sling furniture (not Sunbrella so it faded - but was cheaper) near the pool and Polywood on the house deck. I love both. However, the Polywood is awesome though expensive (~300 per chair). I bought them from the place below which is relatively close to you. They work with the Amish folks in PA and Indiana to source their goods. They actually let me go to the factory (farm/barn factory) and pick it up from the Amish folks themselves in Lancaster, PA. On the fanback or Adirondack styles, you won't need cushions unless you want them because they are so comfy.

You can get any color combo you want - beachy brights, match your alma mater, etc. Darks do get hot though. Ours are in a shaded are for the most part.

Hi from a late visitor. Thanks for visiting my page. Excellent thread and really like your pool. What's happening since June 6? You must have caught up to me. Got screen cage going up this week hoping for plaster next week. Are we both going to have a start up for 4th of July? :swim:

Pile of trash waiting on being hauled off from fill dirt added after decking. At first look the dirt looked nicer than the native soil hauled off except for being rocky. It was darker soil rather than sandy so cool maybe we can finally grow a tomato in Florida. Turned out it had a ton of rocks and glass, bottles, can, metal pieces, etc.

Trying to schedule irrigation, landscaping and fencing. It's like trying to get three children to agree on something. Hopefully we'll get this settled this week and completed in the next two weeks so we're ready for final county inspection and then finish and fill.

Crew should be out here to complete the landscaping/sod today. Also expecting PB onsite to install pool lights.

Fencing later this week (hopefully) or early next. Tentative PB plaster date of 07/18 based on fencing completion and county safety inspection first.

TF-100 test kit arrived and here are the results on testing tap water:

OTO:
CL - .5
PH - 8.2

FAS/DPD
FC - .5
CC - 0

CH - 50
TA - 80

Not sure if we did them right but the instructions seemed easy to follow. It was fun for the whole family (we'll see how long that holds up ;)).

I might have missed this and need to do more reading/studying...is there another test for PH other than the basic OTO test?

The color match test for the PH is THE test for PH. I have a white, plastic plate I hold up behind the tube that helps me see and match the colors better. I pull the plate back and forth until I get a match. Saying that your PH may even be a bit higher so be ready for that. Muriatic acid will be your friend for that.

LOTS of nice work you have done so far! Getting there. Good move on getting the trees away from the pool BUT you and I both know their stuff will still end up IN the pool LOL.

Everthing looking great. I like the landscaping going in. Are those the $600 trees?
Makes me want to get some trees soon but as I mentioned in my thread will wait a while.

Hey, I getting plastered today. Glad to hear yours is scheduled.

Thanks Kim. We were considering an overnight commando planting of the trees in our neighbors back yards and hoping they wouldn't notice but decided against it.

PH was way red so your right likely even higher than 8.2.

I'm running over to check your thread hoping for pics on the plaster job Irwin. Keep us updated.

The trees were existing and are just being moved. Quote was $200 per tree to move which seems reasonable after seeing the effort of digging out the root balls and moving.

Drum roll please...here come the big splurge $600 per Italian Cypress....

They will be lined up behind the three sheer descents.

Looking forward to more pictures of the landscaping and the finished pool with the sheer descents running.
Hey, I may actually have sheer descents running this weekend. I hope they work ok.

Wondering what's the height of your fence? My community has been putting in 5' fences but my neighbor put in a 4' fence which is allowed. HOA says you must have same fence as your neighbor. Doesn't make sense as eventually down the line of homes one will not match with the neighbor.

Landscaping completed (for now):

Waiting on this little bit of fencing to be put back up on the access side of the yard (fence co. couldn't schedule us until next Tuesday).

Then county inspection Thur. 07/14 and plaster 07/18. So close yet so far...

Okay I think you are ready for my set of links for new pool owners...the first one MUST be run by your PB as HE holds the warranty card. The one thing I do want to say is that IF you are having an acid wash you can get in your pool IF your PB says it is okay before 30 days.

So this week fence was put back up and the gates brought up to code.

We passed our pre-fill county inspection which included having the proper pool barrier (in our case backyard fence and alarms on all pool facing doors and windows).

We are officially ready for plaster on Monday and that crew dropped a few things off today in prep including the following:

water%20bottle_zpsjuucaiyi.jpg

That's a good sign right? That bottle and tape look like they've seen a lot of other pools though so so course being like a typical TFPer I will be replacing it with a new bottle and tape before they arrive.

Thanks for the reference links Kim.

You can also "upgrade" the hose by putting a sock or wash cloth on the end of the hose to protect the plaster from the metal end and it also helps catch stuff as the water comes out.

Monday will be here soon. Your job is to be there when they show up and make sure they have YOUR color and any extras on the truck. We had one with the wrong color (had to be chipped out) and another had the wrong color on the truck. Better safe than sorry.

Plaster day! They were here before 8 and are cleaning & setting up. I did confirm they have the right finish "triple blue gem" (thanks for the reminder Kim). A few showers passed through last night but a sunny day currently with a 20% chance of rain which for Florida in summer very low; go away any stray showers.

They put boards down for their trek of wheel barrows and other supplies through the yard so hopefully little damage to the new sod.

Plan is supposed to be plaster, acid wash and fill starting all today. Exciting...
