Pool Company Closed Pool with PVC pipe in skimmer - can't get it out!

We're trying to open our pool this year and the company we used to close apparently used a PVC pipe in our skimmer that we can't get out. Does anyone have any experience with this? We don't want to pull to hard and break something. We just aren't sure how to get these out!

Have you put channel locks on it and tried to unscrew it?

The skimmer ports below are threaded for plugs.

They were screwed it. It just ended up taking some muscle.... This is our first year opening the pool!
