Pool Circulation help

I need help with pool. I have a new pool and noticed that one of my skimmers hardly ever pickup any trash. I noticed last night that one of my jets pushes water across pool to the tanning ledge and when it leaves the tanning ledge it skips past the skimmer that is next to the tanning ledge. It then goes toward the end of pool where another jet pushes it across pool to the skimmer that does the most work. Can I change the direction of my jets the other direction to fix this problem.

71,

I personally like the jets all pointed the same way, so that they cause the water in the pool to swirl like a very large flushing toilet bowl. Obviously, much slower.

Every pool is different, you will just need to experiment with yours to see what works best. Move them however you wish, you can't hurt anything.

When you have two skimmers, the one closest to the equipment pad will always have a lot of suction and the far skimmer will have much less suction. Depending on how your valves were installed it is often possible to adjust them so you can make the suction to each skimmer about equal.

Show us some pics of your equipment pad.

Thanks,

Jim R.

71,

Shut off the main drain, or only open it 5 or 10%, and see if that helps.

The real problem is the lack and placement of your returns, but not much can be done with that now.

Thanks,

Jim R.

71,

The best way to find the answer is to just change them and see how it works. You can't hurt anything, and you can always just change them back.

I "assume" that both of your skimmers have operating weir doors. I know the pool is new, but some pool builders do not install them.

Weir doors are what make skimmers actually skim the debris from the surface of the water.

A weir door will be between the skimmer's mouth and the basket area. It will be connected at the bottom and will float up and down with the waves in the water.

Water level is also important. The higher the water, the less skimming action there will be. The lower the water the more skimming action, but you don't want to run out of water. The sweat spot is right in the middle of the tile line.

Thanks,

Jim R.

No weir door were installed on the pool. I learned last night when searching that I need to to install them. I was wondering about his before b/c when I turned off the pump everything would flood back out. I just thought they no longer installed them any more. I will be ordering some to install soon and I keep the pool water about half way up the skimmer. Last night I did a longer backwash to drop the pool water and see how that would help. That's when I noticed the flow of the pool water and how it was skipping the skimmer

Thanks for all the help.
