I read a couple of post that mentions persons have the Pool blaster Max Li. No one has mentioned any problems with it. I got mine for Christmas and didn't open the box until middle of March. I like the sealed on and off button and glad they changed it. I pushed the button just to see if it came on and it didn't, so I charged the recommended time and still nothing. Also pushing the button about twenty times and plugging it in again it still didn't turn on. Called for a RMA and when I received the email and about to box it up I tried again and it started working. The RMA was good for 60 days and 5 days before the RMA expired it went dead again. Tired the same procedure again, thinking what if the position of the button on or off makes a difference whether it would charge? It didn't. Anyway, I sent a email and asked if I could still use the same RMA and was told yes I could. I mailed it USPS on 6.8.18 and UPS sent me a notice I am to receive a package from Water Tech by 6.15.18. Wow, great turnaround.

So, my question to others, has anyone experienced anything like this? Also, I read somewhere on the internet before I received my Pool blaster Max Li that persons were building their own batteries that would keep a charged longer and better? I need to find that in case I need it later

There's a few threads on the Max Li if you search for it, I just started one the other day because I've gone through 2 of them in 3 years.
Even took great care of it, always made sure to charge it and let it dry out after, still it died after 1.5 years of use.
My latest one stopped working but I believe it is just the switch that is bad, as it will take and hold a charge still.
The first one I had got moisture inside and would not take a charge. It was within 1 yr warranty.

I recommend getting the 4-year extended warranty buying it through Amazon for anyone who gets another one,
just so you know you are at least good for 4 years use.

The batteries on the Max Li are not replaceable, unless you were to open it up, but that would likely
ruin the seal (so I'm told) But they are replaceable on the Max model.

Thanks, I did read about getting the extended warranty with Amazon. But since it was a gift I wondering how to do that? I think I will chat with Amazon or maybe with Square Trade?'

Just found out it was brought from Walmart and they have a 4 year care plan for $21

Walmart care plan Rep said it had to be done within 30 days. Going to try Square trade for either 3-Year Accident Protection Plan for $55 and standard 3 yr plan for $35. Oops, square trade also has to be done within 30 days. I bet Amazon is the same.

ok so I ended up buying another PoolBlaster MAX Li via Amazon and also bought the 4 yr extended warranty.

It arrived thursday and first thing I noticed was different box packaging.

Then I opened it and noticed the charger was different.

The older pool blaster's had a rear mounted, sealed push button switch, with a push in charger that makes contact
with the bolts that hold the button mechanism in place.

They have upgraded the new MAX Li models with this same switch but on the side of the unit.

I think this is a MUCH better design as the unit is now completely sealed and not relying on 2 o rings and
turning the knob to seal it up. Also the switch seems less prone to wear than the cheaper looking one used before.

Also I could be wrong, but it sounds like the motor is a brushless bearing motor, it sounds WAY different than
the 2 previous units I had. Here's hoping I won't need to use the warranty.
