Pool at Royal Hawaiian - problem with water?

We are staying at the Royal Hawaiian in Waikiki. When I’m underwater with goggles I can’t see across the pool, whereas I always can in my pool or our tennis club pool. In fact I can only see maybe 10 feet max.

The whole surface of the pool is 1” blue tile with white grout lines.

Is there any explanation for this that isn’t super problematic in terms of health and safety?

Typical hotel pool. Many of us won't go near them.

High pH. Low FC. Likely sanitary, but not real comfortable.

It's just a hotel that doesn't put a premium on making sure their pool is properly balanced. Makes you wonder where else they cut corners.

At least you can see your feet which is better then some hotel pools.

Halekulani Hotel has a very nice pool. Take a walk and check it out.
