Hello - Our calcium hardness is too high so we decided to get our pool acid washed after it is drained. The company doing it will also rebalance the chemistry when it is refilled. We have a salt cell so all I ever use is pool salt, acid, baking soda and conditioner. What order should we be adding these in? I am sure the guy knows what he is doing but being I will have all fresh, new water I don't want it messed up. Anything else I should add with new water? Thank you in advance!

Once filled, add 40 ppm worth of CYA and 3ppm worth of liquid chlorine. Use acid to keep pH in the 7's. You should never need baking soda. Add salt in stages to get the level needed for the SWCG. Keep the FC in target level based on FC/CYA Levels
I assume you have no alternatives to acid washing. It will reduce the life of your plaster substantially.

No water softener. Plaster is 6 - 1/2 years old and isn't badly stained, except for the bottom step that are old pool vacuum used to go against and made a stained line all across the stair face. Maybe I need to rethink the acid wash at this time and wait until it is really horrible, and just drain and refill enough to lower my calcium hardness. I have never drained my pool in the 6 - 1/2 years since it was replastered. How much damage does an acid wash do?
