I am at the point where I am ready to toss the cleaner!

Two months ago I bought a new hose, two 10’ pieces and cut them down enough so the cleaner reaches each end. Placed them it the hot sun for about two days but it didn’t help. Since they come rolled in the package I knew it would take time for them to take a straight form. Well two months later the hose’still tangle.

I untangle it and with an hour or so it’s tangled again. I disconnected the hoses and reconnected them. I made sure the connection points were done correctly. I have to literally untwist the hose.

What else can I do?

I believe that's a pressure cleaner with its own dedicated pump, or possibly using an electric valve which alternates between the return jets and the cleaner. If that's not correct, ignore the rest.

Pressure cleaners have kind of gone the way of the dodo bird, mostly because of high operating cost (electricity for the pump and maintenance costs). I think your instinct to toss it is the right instinct.

The most popular is a robotic cleaner, although when it's in the pool, you'll probably have some cord tangling. They are capable of doing a very nice job in 2 or 3 hours, and then get removed and stored neatly on a caddy. They come with both coarse and fine mesh screens, and with the fine mesh screens can also remove non-living cloudiness. This is the most popular option among USA pool owners here on this website. There are rechargeable ones coming out with no cord, but there's not much experience with those just yet.

Another option is a suction cleaner attached to the skimmer and left in the pool. I prefer that option because it's the least added effort, but some don't like it because it compromises skimming. It could be possible to repurpose the polaris pressure line to a suction line, but then you would need a leaf cyclone on the suction line to prevent debris from blocking the pipe, and the repurposed pressure line might not be big enough to get enough flow.

There are pros and cons to each option, covered better than I can elsewhere around the site.

I only see 1 swivel which is between the 2 hoses.
I have a 6 ft deep pool, so I have a short hose above the backup valve and then have a swivel. I then measured the remaining length needed - then cut 2 equal length hoses to make up that length. Put another swivel between those 2 hoses. So there is really 3 swivels, 1 at the inline filter near the wall connection, hose A, a swivel, Hose B (length A=length B), swivel, short hose C, back up valve, short hose D to cleaner.

Also, some members have indicated they have removed the backup valve and their cleaner works fine. I have not done that so cannot comment if it is effective.

Most often with the Polaris is the hose swivel and floats not being positioned as the manual describes.

I can see you do not have a leader hose and the leader hose needs to have two floats - one above the backup valve and one by the swivel. The leader hose should be the maximum depth of the pool. That setup keeps the hose mostly vertical above the cleaner so it does not run into the hose and twist it.
