Polaris 280 how often do I run

Hi all,

I have a new build and just got the Polaris 280. I'm curious as to run times. Do I run this daily? If not how often? And for how long? What's your schedule?

Ours runs for 3 hours/day. We've got a fair amount of oak trees around the pool. Could probably dial it back to 2 hours when leaves aren't falling which is pretty much 2 months a year down here.

I'm not too good about brushing and the polaris sweeps its tail around. That seems to help.

We run ours 2 to 4 hours a day depending on the time of year. We also use the "sand & silt" bags all year except for autumn. When the leaves start to fall, we switch to the normal "leaf" bags.

How often and how long is really determined by each pool's environment and usage. Running the booster pump costs money and IMHO should be done only as necessary. In the summer I only vacuum once a week as I have very little flying debris that gets into the pool. In the fall, much more often. I agree with BPK, switch to the leaf bags at that time when leaves are falling and finding your pool (of which every one in your neighborhood will do).

Much like asking us "how frequently should I vacuum my house?" you're in the best position to judge. If you run it for an hour a day and there's still stuff left to pick up then run it longer. You're there.
