Hello everyone. After a lot of thought I decided to finally build a pool for my family. We are building a rectangular 16x36 vinyl pool. My initial plan did not include a pool cabana (budget reasons), but I have 2 young boys and I can only imagine the mess my house would be with them coming all wet lol.

I live in Michigan. I was thinking about building something simple, a bar, a bathroom and a storage area.

I was looking for ideas. Do you guys mind positing pictures of your own pool house ?

Thanks

Welcome to TFP.

Pictures rarely show you how to stay on budget.

Good luck on your build.

Well to me a simple pool house that does not “break the bank” is a bathroom and storage area. You throw in a bar and it raises it to another level. You want a TV in the pool house?

Or does a Yeti cooler under a polywood table count as a Michigan bar?

Maybe we need to see a picture of your “bank” you don’t want to break.

In all seriousness you will need to winterize any external pool house. What is your situation for water and sewage in your pool house area?

Here is a picture of mine but it kind of broke the bank. Bathroom install became quite expensive. First because it had a bathroom in it our county considered it a building that could be occupied so it had to go on a foundation. Next our locality would only approve it if we tied directly into the sewer line. That was 18 feet deep so that dig was expensive. Of course getting g the water out there hiring the electrician etc I spent much more than I wanted to. But now that it is done we love it. If it is in your budget I would definitely recommend the bathroom

How much did they cost in total? 40k? Thanks for the pictures

It was a quite bit more than that. It was 2017 so I would have to go back. But the pool itself was close to 55 k but that was with a 13k auto cover. With the pool house, we needed much more decking so that also added to the cost. But if I had to guess around 85-90k total. Also though it cost me 8k to tie into the sewer line. So depending upon what you want you can save some costs.

Cool. What is the dimension of the pool.house?

Here’s our cabana with bathroom and outdoor kitchen. We built it three years ago with the pool. The bathroom was a great investment.
