Please forgive me!

Pool isn’t perfect, but it almost always does this after my old shock method, it’s almost like a yellowish stain where the water is, sometimes only about half high. You can’t scrub it off, no tests show metal, but a bottle of locals stores ‘A+’ takes it off in seconds and it’s perfect. I don’t want to do that yet to see if SLAM fixes it
Sounds like you have iron in the water and iron staining.

If you do not remove the iron from the water by draining or filtering it will redeposit on the surfaces.

Thats very odd and indicative of something funky in the water. What exact pool store stuff have you added? Whats the sample look like before adding powder or drops?
The water sample seems like normal clear water. I will say my little FC scooper was stained black the last few times I used it, where the powder would sit. I try hard not to get it wet, but I assumed that was just a normal chemical reaction to the powder over time?

It shouldnt get wet, but Ive seen mine get dark color over time. Mostly it just has dry powder left on it. What pool store “remedies” have been added?

So this post was started because I broke protocol and used powdered shock to try to quickly get it back to norm. That was Sunday. I’ve only added 12.5% liquid chlorine for SLAM since then. The powder did not have any stabilizer as my level is already fairly high, 80ish.

It was green yesterday morning. Fairly blue by evening and somewhat tinted today. My chlorine still seemed fairly high, although the test was not coming back as clear, more of a yellowish brown. If you scroll up a bit, I also posted a pic of the skimmer socks are the same kinda color which is odd

Take it with a grain of salt, but I had them test the water Sunday to see how close it was to my results, and theirs shows 0

That means nothing. Once the iron deposits on the surfaces it does not show in the water. And Pool Store tests are inaccurate.

If Vitamin C clears an area on the surface then it is iron.

Just checked again. FC is at 9 now. Water goes clear at 18 drops. Not the brownish yellow it was before. But it’s still asking for 4 gallons of shock to get back to 31. In just over 24 hours I’m about 8-12 gallons of shock into it now 😬 seems like a ton.
The pool was beautiful when I went down, then got greenish as I added shock, so I guess its algae is still present.
I could only do 1.8 gallons because I’m out now, wife is going to get more so I’ll check again tonight

It seems like everytime I do a SLAM test and dump a few gallons of chlorine in, it goes away until I do the next one. It was beautiful blue this morning, then after adding 2 gallons of chlorine it was kinda yellowish (unscrubbable) on the walls. After a few hours it was blue again. I just added the mid day 2 gallons, so we shall see

Still noticing the FC test is coming back with a tinted color when it goes ‘clear’ Seemed to be fine yesterday, but back again today. No other chems have been added other than liquid chlorine.
