placing foam on a pool's floor and walls

I have a problem with vermiculite slopes after a winter without a liner.
Would it be cheaper to put fresh vermiculite patches on the top of the old vermiculite, and then put a foam cover on a pool's floor and walls to cover small and big imperfections?
Then I do not need to do a perfect job with vermiculite, plus softer and hopefully warmer floor and walls?

What kind of foam are you thinking of using? Do you already have the new liner on hand? Sure don't want to do all of that work then it rain big and mess it up again.
