Happy spring/summer from Michigan!!

I am setting up my 16’ Intex, and notice multiple pinholes in the floor of the liner. There appear to be no holes in the liner sides. It was packed up in the fall per the instructions and kept inside in the basement untouched.
Why would these holes develop over the winter? Or maybe they were there last year and I did not notice? I will patch for the time being and possibly buy new liner for 2024. Thanks!!

Every time I ever tried to store mine mice would chew a hole somewhere. Not sure that’s the case here though. Pinholes are usually from ants/termites.
How old is the pool? - if it’s several years old it may just be deterioration & a sign of what’s to come & you may want to source a new liner.

They also can get harder to find as they get older so if you run into that there’s a place who makes overlap replacements and they’re held on with clips.

Not mice, holes are too small. I noticed them when I was on the ground and lifted the bottom up and sunshine came thru. I think it’s 2015, probably older as there are no 16x48 listed on Intex website. All are 15x48.
I’m going to get in it and look around at the bottom, there is no water in it yet.
The overlap seems nice, wonder how well they work…..
Ugh, always something 🙄

I think they fit quite well since they’re actually designed for intex pools. People have been doing their own overlaps for years with regular above ground liners but they never fit quite right.
They just go right over your existing liner

Thanks I will look at that for next year. I put about an inch of water in and did some patches after seeing some holes. put another 1” of water in and will let it sit overnight to see the result tomorrow.

This is why I left mine up year-round when I had my Intex. It was probably little critters that got into it while it was in storage.

Do you have kitties?

No as they have to go over pool liner AND the new liner. That would add at least 1/8”. And then i would probably break them getting them off.
Looking at new/used pools…..

Not sure those would be big enough.
I found a 2022 Intex Ultra XTR 16 x48 for $500. Think I’ll just get that. Current pool is 15 years old…..
Thanks for looking and helping me out 😊

Wow, 15 years is a good ride for an intex! That might be a record!
When assembling your new pool be sure to coat any scratches with rustoleum. They don’t make em like they used to. The coating now is just not as durable.

Yes it’s a 2008. I should call Intex, tell them, and they can use my old one for an ad. And I will get royalties 🤣
Spray paint scratches on frame with same color Rustoleum? This should prevent rust, correct?

Yes, spray paint (i like the 2x’s stuff) 👍🏻 & yeah your pool could be like the million mile toyotas they display in the dealerships 😁
