Pictures: Leak in skimmer boxes or something else?

The water level of my pool drops down to the bottom of the two skimmer box openings, and then stays consistently there (ie doesn’t drop anymore).

To troubleshoot, I plugged the drains in the skimmers and noticed that water is able to stay in the “bowls” of the skimmer boxes. So that leads me to believe the leak is at or above the lower lip of the skimmer opening. I don’t see obvious cracks in the boxes.

Can you tell me what else to look for? Is there a gasket around the skimmer box opening “frame”, where the screws are? The liner around the frame is tight and not bulging or soft.

I need to solve this! Thanks in advance.

This is a pretty good guide on what to do to find and repair a leak like this. Since the water is directly through the lower screws on the faceplate, I'm putting my money on the skimmer faceplate gaskets.

Thanks! I see the rust around the skimmer face plate - I know where to look first now.
