Thanks to all of the help from you all (thank you!) and a lot of research, we have a filled pool with the plumbing on. We've had a good experience with our pool builder and it was only a month from ground break to turning on the plumbing! 🎉

We just need the concrete poured and safety cover anchors installed. We signed up for the standard 3f of concrete, but now want minimum 5 ft. And when we measure that out, it gets pretty close to the house so we're thinking it would make sense to bring it all the way to the house, but it's hard for me to visualize how to reconcile the curved shape of the pool with the straight edge of an existing sidewalk on the side of our house that wrap around to the back. We're good to replace the back sidewalk, but I think we'd like to keep the side one, if possible.

Would we just put a big rectangle around the whole pool? I put together a google doc with actual photos (since they were too large to add to the post) and also added a poorly drawn, definitely not to scale rendering. We'll meet with someone from the concrete side to discuss and look at layouts too, but if any here has photos of their setup or advice, let me have it!

ETA: It's gonna be brushed concrete as that's all the budget will allow.

Most likely brushed concrete due to budget concerns. Would really like to go for stamped, but I think it's unlikely we cold afford it. At the moment planning to maximize the amount of deck we can get over a smaller amount that's prettier. But I could change my mind.

Always go with more deck. You can have enough to play a full basketball game, and 2 more teams show up and have to wait.

The concrete guy was super helpful and came out a few weeks ago to draw in the sand (literally) some ideas. We ran with one and now it's framed and ready for pouring. Video tour, if you'd like: Pool deck layout.

I'm super happy with it and can't wait to see it all come together.

My dogs were howling at the Amazon guy so you may have said in the video and I missed it. Are you doing the stairs also ? I didn't want to do mine, and the Mrs did so we did.

I also did not want to spend even more money doing a small landing and then the stairs, verses only stairs, but again the Mrs wanted to so we did. :ROFLMAO:

(I happily relented because I had full say on almost every other detail and fair is fair).

Let me tell you though. Those stars are my favorite part and it REALLY ties the patio and the house together. Your current stairs are going to look their age against a brand spanky patio. Food for thought. :)

Those stairs do look really nice! We aren't getting any stair work at this time. But maybe on the future.
