Hi everyone,

have a question as I have been doing pretty well with my TF-100 kit and new pool.

I normally have to add about a 1/3 gallon of acid every 3rd day to lower PH to “orange” - 7.5

I lowered the PH to about 7.3 prior to leaving as I have multiple water features that run during the day - I intentionally left them on to experiment what would happen to the PH when I returned

I tested upon return - it was purple as expected but I’m not sure how far over 8.0 it really was (purple is purple).

Odd thing was I added my typical 1/3 gallon and checked a few hours later and PH was down to 7.5 - orange again

my question: is there such a thing as PH reaching a ceiling/max level and could this be the reason why after 10 days it took the same amount of acid to lower vs what it takes after 3 days ? I’m a bit muffled on this one

thanks all

pH will balance at a level based on the carbonate alkalinity. So yes, there is a limit to how high the pH will rise naturally.

Thank you

so next Question: should I continue to add acid every 3 days or just do it for example on Fridays in prep for the weekend —- is there harm in allowing the PH to stay elevate >8.0 for 5 days and then bring it down ?

You have a SWCG. It will scale up very quickly if you let your pH get too high. Also, depending on your other chemistry parameters, you can have scale form on your pool surfaces.

You should be able to get your TA low enough that the pH does not rise that quickly. Try to limit your run time on the water features, including the spillover spa.
