pH decreased without doing anything

Four days ago my pH was 7.4, and then yesterday my pH dropped to 7.0. We had some windy nights and have had tons of hours with kids and family in the pool, so tons of splashing over those four days. What would cause the pH to drop like that if I didn’t add any muriatic acid? This is the first time I have ever seen that happen before.

What is the pH of your city water from your autofill?

Have you tested your pool water pH again from a different area of the pool?

How are you chlorinating your pool? What are you testing PH with?

If your signature is correct I would not rely on strips. Get a proper test kit.

I tested it from the same area I always do, but I haven’t tested the pH from tap.

I have the Taylor 2600 and have been using it for almost a year.

How are you chlorinating your pool? What are you testing PH with?

I chlorinate with 10% liquid chlorine and use the Taylor 2600 kit.

Not sure if it is your answer, but my PH drops low 7's if I keep a solar cover on too long from 7.6PPm, like 5 days

Purely a guess, but maybe the heavy bather load caused it? Sweat has a pH of 4-5.5 (not to mention urine).
