We have had a recurring issue with what we’ve been told by a few pool experts to be Mustard algae. We’ve been through at least 8 cycles over the last two summers of adding Mustard-eze, power shocking and brushing every 4 hours for 5 days and while it will nearly dissipate — it comes back in all its glory. Does anyone know of an alternative treatment option or a company that is specializes in treating pool algae. Notable here too is that nobody has officially tested to determine type of algae — but it does resemble mustard algae from pics, videos and the way it dissipates when brushed. Any help would be appreciated.

How do you test your pool water chemistry?
You need to follow the SLAM Process. To do that, you need a proper test kit. I suggest the TF-100/Pro or Taylor K2006C. A proper test kit is needed to get the accurate water chemistry results needed to follow the TFP protocols.
While you are waiting on your test kit, add 5 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine / plain bleach to your pool each evening with the pump running. This will replenish the FC lost each day to the sun and also inhibit any algae in the water from growing further.
Once you complete the normal SLAM Process, there is a mustard algae protocol to be followed. See Mustard Algae
