Pentiar Variable Speed pump chirping noise 3.0 HP

Hello All,

2015 Pentair pump is making a chirping noise. I have opened up the back cover to get to the fan where I sprayed WD40 on the shaft. The noise stopped for a little while, however, now it is back. The noise is not horrible but I fear it will only get worse. Does anyone have any ideas on what is causing this?

Greg,

I would assume it is the tip of the fan hitting something.. It does not sound like a bearing or shaft issue to me, especially if taking the cover off temporarily fixed it.

If WD-40 temporarily got rid of the noise I would be more suspicious of a bearing issue. I had that occur an older type Pentair pump a few years ago.

It might be the shaft seal. Sometimes those get a chirp, especially at low speed.
