My Pentair system and pool were installed a few years ago with a buried ethernet cable that worked great but got damaged from the elements during this past winter and now my system won't connect. I've tested the cable with an ethernet tester and it's definitely busted. Instead of digging up the yard to run a new cable, I'm looking into getting the wifi kit (523557) but I'm having a hard time finding anyone who actually sells it.

Anyone have any luck finding the kit online? I'm not seeing it at any of the usual pool suppliers and my local place doesn't have it in stock and might be a very long wait.

I saw the PW one when I searched, but the website doesn't seem to actually let me add it to the cart, so not sure what the deal is there. The PSW link I didn't see, but it doesn't say anything about their stock status, and I don't want to wait weeks to get it if there are better options. Thank you for the links though. I may try calling both of them to see what the deal is.

They are around. You just need to dig some.

I have the high-power wireless link kit that came with my intellicenter I would let go of for less than retail if interested. It is new unused in the bags still.20230503_102125.jpg20230503_102133.jpg

Speaking from experience I had very frustrating experience with Intellicenter WiFi until I ran a cable . There was another recent post from someone in that too

Who Here (Also) Suffers from IntelliCenter App Laggyness, Disconnects and General Crappy Experience?

More often than not the app acts like it's working when it's not. It says waiting for connection or whatever and never confirms it's connected. Most of the time even minutes later after using it I'll pull my phone out of my pocket and the app has crashed or is just unresponsive. I close the app...

You may have a better experience but you may end up running a new cable anyway in the end. can you pull a new cable at all by attaching a new one to the end with electrical tape or is it stuck in the ground too far ?
 
Polytec Pools here in Las Vega is another on line retailer that has the Pentair Intellicenter 900MHZ P/N 523557 high power wireless kit in stock.

To be honest, I have not had a problem with my Intellicenter connecting to my Ubiquiti home network via wifi. Now, I know that there are other Ubiquiti network users here on TFP, that may have ran ethernet cable to their Intellicenter outside control panel. I did not.

I watched a video the other day that said Pentair stopped selling the EnGenius devices (something about transmitting power and too many problems) and instead went back to the older the Quest wireless link they used for screenlogic... which is what @Ahultin posted above.

You can't run your screenlogic and your intellicenter with it, but it's basically that same hardware - but with an ethernet port - and allegedly works a lot better than the EnGenius.

[correction] - that video I watched was incorrect in saying it's the same hardware as the old screenlogic link... while it IS also made by Quest, it's altogether different (but you CAN also use it for intellitouch/easytouch/screenlogic if you want to). I have an early IntelliCenter that came with the Engenius WiFi link. It works okay connected to my Unifi Wifi. It's problem is if your WiFi AP drops out for any reason the EnGenius box does not do well reconnecting and you need to power cycle the IntelliCenter to restore connectivity.

Because of those issues the new “High Power Wireless Link Kit,” replaced the EnGenius WiFi Link Kit (Primary Client Bridge) (P/N 522475Z). These new link kits (523557) began shipping with newer IntelliCenter bundled kits, January 30, 2021. The new kits have two (2) transceivers. One transceiver connects to the user’s router and the other connects to the IntelliCenter. The following is reported:


  • Connection range is significantly better.
  • Establishes a proprietary secure bridge between the two transceivers which automatically negotiates the connection.
  • Allows for auto configuration and formatting (plug and play).
The High Power Wireless Link Kit is the 900mhz bridge that had been used on the EasyTouch and IntelliTouch systems.

hey Allen that's great info. I linked the video I watched below, I thought the narrator said you couldn't run them both, which I took to mean "at the same time"... but I re-watched it and I think he was saying you can't use the screenlogic on the intellicenter (not sure why you'd want to?).

talks about the EnGenius around 2:30
 
Screenlogic has a Protocol Adapter and the Wireless Bridge packaged together.

The guy in the video mentions ScreenLogic as though it is one thing and it has a few components. You don't need the Protocol Adapter for the IntelliCenter. I suspect that you may be able to use the Wireless Bridge components from a Screenlogic system on an IntelliCenter.
